A word from our President...

I am humbled and honored to serve as president of the Rotary Club of Lenoir for 2010-11.  Our club has a rich history in Service above Self in our community and abroad

Many of our projects have had a long life.  We are involved in our community by providing scholarships, help with Special Olympics, tutoring, public health, athletics, vocational services and more.  On the international level we support the Rotary Foundation, Group Study Exchange, wheelchair and shelter box programs, Polio Plus and more.  We are part of a Rotary family of 1.2 million members, 33,000 clubs throughout the world.  We add to these 3 new projects this year; a Stop Hunger Now event, establishment of a new Rotoract Club and promoting ethics and the 4-way test in our schools.

Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith  has set distinct goals for 2010-11.  Polio eradication and outreach to youth and young adults top his "to-do" list. Also featured are the six areas of focus: Peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy and economic and community development.

President Klinginsmith said it best Yes, we have changed the world, and will continue to change it, in a positive way! Can we do it even better in these financially troubled times? Yes, we can do it! Yes, we will do it — together! The formula is simple. For us to succeed next year, all we need to do is to focus our best efforts on encouraging our clubs and districts to do what Rotarians are passionate about, and what Rotarians are the best in the world at doing, which is Building Communities — Bridging Continents!”

Yours in Rotary,

Keith Orrell

President
